Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library Officially Launched
The red carpet was rolled out on Friday, September 28th, as the Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library was officially launched by Premier Ed Stelmach and special guests across the province.

October is Canadian Library Month and, here in Alberta, there is a lot to celebrate. We’ve come a long way since the Library Act was introduced 100 years ago during the first Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

The Library Renewed campaign
In October, more than 700,000 copies of an eight-page, full colour publication will be distributed in 95 markets through daily and weekly newspapers across the province. The publication is funded by the Alberta Public Library Electronic Network (APLEN) as part of the Library Renewed campaign.

The Alberta Library on CKUA
If you’re a regular listener of CKUA Radio, you may hear some library-related ads over the next few months. From October through December, The Alberta Library is scheduled to run 145 30-second spots on the station.
First up in October is an ad for The Alberta Library Card.
CKUA Radio attracts over 165,000 listeners with a network of transmitters that cover 85 per cent of Alberta’s populated area.

TAL makes presentation to key government committee
On Monday, September 17th, The Alberta Library made a presentation to the Alberta Government’s Cabinet Policy Committee on Managing Growth Pressures.
The committee, chaired by MLA David Coutts, reviews and makes recommendations on policies, programs and legislation; hears public and private submissions on a range of issues; monitors existing programs, services and legislation; and reviews budget implications of proposals.

New Staff at TAL
Christina Wilson is The Alberta Library’s Emerging Technologies Librarian, a new position within the Alberta Public Library Electronic Network (APLEN). It combines ongoing SuperNet infrastructure and services development duties with responsibility for investigating new or enhanced electronic services of interest to public libraries. Christina comes to this position with an enthusiasm for serving public libraries and over 20 years of experience implementing and managing public library technologies.
