The south-west's T15 clubs are back in competition this season, with events in both the north and south of the region. Youngsters aged between 7 and 15 have already been taking part in the series, each hoping to be in the winning team that competes in the national final later this year.

Blue Mile logo Do the Blue Mile

As well as regattas on the Exe and at Portishead Cruising Club, there will be very special event on next weekend - the inaugural Blue Mile event will be taking place in Plymouth, where people can 'swim, paddle or walk a mile for our seas'. The Blue Mile – Race for the Environment is the UK’s newest mass-participation event designed to get you immersed in our wonderful watery environment and raise some money for charity - and Horizons, Plymouth's sailing charity for children, will benefit.

Young powerboaters were in action at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club this month, when the regional finals of the Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship took place in the inner harbour at Falmouth.

Rod Carr CBE Rod Carr receives CBE for services to sailing

Rod Carr, former RYA CEO, has received a CBE for his services to sailing in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. The Honours List reflects and pays tribute to outstanding achievement and service across the community.

SW yacht and dinghy club Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club (TMSC) added windsurfing to its member activities for the first time on Tuesday 1 June when RYA Regional Club Coach Tim Cross helped run a taster event.
