Exe Sailing Club has made it to the last five in the RYA Club of the Year Award 2009. All five finalists have been invited to a presentation taking place during the Dinghy Sailing Show on Saturday 6 March (see below), when the overall winner will be announced.

A £4 million multi purpose facility for the RYA at Osprey Quay on Portland in Dorset has been formally handed over.

Finding Sanctuary has announced that there are now just five months left for sea users to come forward and share their information and observations about the areas of sea they use in the south-west before the new Marine Conservation Zones are planned.

Morgan Peach, last year's 8-12 regional winner Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship

This event, sponsored by Honda and Ribcraft, is a national championship in which 8 - 16 year old Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) drivers can demonstrate their skills with the goal of winning a 5m Ribcraft or a Honwave T40 for their club.

Vestas SailRocket Dinghy Show - so much going on!

Over the weekend of 6-7 March 2010, Alexandra Palace, London once again becomes home of the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show, in association with Yachts and Yachting and Suzuki, the only show in the world dedicated to dinghy sailing. 

Alongside the hundreds of exhibitors, the boats, books, kit and sailors the show boasts a packed agenda of talks and master classes from some of the dinghy sailing world’s elite.

New secretary takes over

Peter Bartlett handed over the role of SW Regional Committee secretary to Neil Northmore at the January meeting.

Neil is a solicitor specialising in the marine industry, and was the RYA Government Affairs Advisor and in-house solicitor from April 2003 to April 2008. A keen sailor, Neil is also a senior RYA YM Examiner. He lives in Plymouth.

We are pleased to say that Peter continues his years of hard work as an elected member of the Committee.
