Mrs McGinty Jailed

In a bizarre turn of events, Mrs Cora-Belle McGinty, President of CAUSE (Citizens Against Urban Stinky Environments) was jailed early Thursday morning for a horrible misunderstanding.

Mrs McGinty was protesting in Ramsay about the stench emanating from near the south west corner of the Shamrock Hotel, claiming the chicken factory situated there is the root of all evil in the neighbourhood.

Jon Hold, a hapless supporter of Lily Hold, happened to cross Mrs McGinty's path at about 8:35 am.  Lily Hold is a survivor of Avian Bird Flu, and Mr. Hold was out showing his support of her recovery.  Mrs McGinty mistakenly mistook him for a rival protestor, and beat him senseless with her handbag.

Police were apparently called to the scene, and the situation escalated,  ending with Mrs McGinty handcuffed face down in the gravel on Hurst Road.  She was reportedly taken to the police station by two of Calgary's finest, who were a little worse for wear due to the handiwork of the handbag weilding octogenarian.

Sam and Ella Escherichia, Treasurer and Secretary of CAUSE, and Mrs McGinty's daughter and son in law stated:

"Ya, we are really sorry that this happened.  Granny's gonna be okay, but  we'll be taking a collection at the unveiling to post her bail."

The much anticipated unveiling of "The Device to Root Out Stink" will still go ahead as planned on Friday Aug 28, beginning with a neighbourhood potluck BBQ at 6:30, family games, unveiling of the Device to Root Out Stink, and  screening of the movie "Chicken Run".
